Vapora Releases Hologram Plaza 2

A luminous retro mall atrium with escalators and a glass roof.

Hologram Plaza 2 is out today through Vaporsoft Records. Across twelve tracks, Vapora steps into the nostalgic, liminal world of vaporwave and mallsoft, arranging a release around the familiar spaces and rituals of a shopping plaza. Retail interiors become the setting for an electronic album with a deliberately retro atmosphere.

A key influence behind this direction is Hologram Plaza by Disconscious, a mallsoft classic that helped inspire Vapora’s debut release, Dystopia. Disconscious was a major influence on Vapora’s early work, opening a path toward music shaped by nostalgia, atmosphere, and imagined surroundings. Hologram Plaza 2 carries that connection into a retail-space setting of its own, where familiar storefronts and everyday rituals become the framework for a distinct electronic world. The inspiration provides a foundation, while Vapora’s track sequence and visual identity give this visit its own character.

The sequence starts at “Visitor Center” before moving through “Department Store Stroll,” “The Record Store,” and “Window Shopping.” These titles give the listener a route through the album’s imagined environment. “Information Kiosk (Interlude)” and “Arcade” add landmarks along the way, turning everyday commercial spaces into part of the release’s identity.

The later titles introduce another side of that world. “Liquidation Sale” and “Out of Business” lead toward “Thank You for Shopping!” at the end of the tracklist. Read together, they suggest both the activity of a retail space and the possibility of its disappearance. That tension fits the album’s nostalgic mood: the plaza can feel familiar even when its exact location is impossible to place.

Produced between August 2016 and January 2017, Hologram Plaza 2 gives Vapora another way to connect sound and setting. After the electronic beats and experimental dance directions of the earlier catalog, this release brings a more explicitly spatial concept into focus.
